Situated on the evergreen stretch of Gurney Drive lies SV Residence, a 2400-sqft holiday home crafted for a HK-based Malaysian family. Designed to create a harmony between clean lines and subtle shape alterations, we kept the overall design to a muted colour palette — lending the space a sense of calm with minimal constraints.

In keeping the space as cohesive as it is practical, we segregated the kitchen into dry and wet areas, with the latter encased in a precisely demarcated space. A lover of Penang rustic decorative elements himself, we dressed up the wet kitchen floor with heritage mosaic tiles that harken back to a time in the 80s, giving the space a homely vibe that invite the homeowner to reminisce his earlier days in Malaysia.

Responsive to the context of a holiday home, we meticulously planned for every nooks and crannies in the quaint space, resulting in seamless edging and skirting throughout the space, prompting one to slow down and appreciate the design and craftsmanship in every corner. The space is accentuated with dark walnut furniture and herringbone flooring, adding an element of contrast and familiarity to the space.
