A heritage shophouse in Georgetown, kept as it was found. Original fretwork, arched fanlights, shutters and timber floorboards stay untouched, so the building reads on its own terms. Slim red steel-framed windows and doors are added to hold the air conditioning in, set quietly against the old facade.
Downstairs, terracotta floors run under a pale plywood counter. Upstairs, a large dining hall is broken into private pockets by benches and slatted timber partitions. Custom carpentry and furniture carry the joinery language throughout.
Walls and ceilings are finished in off-white lime, hand brushed for a soft, cloudy texture that shifts with daylight. The result is a calm, tactile room, old and new sitting easily together
